Beware of the Crash Diets

Many think that trimming down on calories can alone shed off their surplus weight. This certainly can be helpful but what people don’t know is that this could be risky because when you decrease your calorie intake below the required levels, the body begins to digest the fats. That’s what you want to do right? The risky part is when that happens your body actually goes into a starvation mode resulting in reduced metabolism which can cause fatigue, illness and a weakness in the immune system.

An extremely low-calorie diet can also harm the body by burning muscle. Those on this type of diet who revert back to their old eating habits end up gaining back most, if not all the weight they have shed off. This the added weight would mostly be stored as fats. And since fats have more volume per mass than muscle, you may end up having the same weight as before but appear larger. While losing weight, you should concentrate on losing excess body fats only.

Try eating smaller meals at more frequent intervals. This way the body will not think that it is being starved and will not store food as fat.

Lose Weight Safely

The common thinking of those who aspire to lose weight naturally think first about reducing the amount of food they eat. This is good depending on the amount you reduce in your food intake. Weight loss should be done in moderation and with the correct mindset to begin with. A balanced variety of foods must always be considered in order to get the crucial nutrients and It is also healthier to eat food which are roasted, steamed or broiled rather than fried. It is also important to include a lot of fiber in your diet.

Build Up Your Lean Muscle Mass

Muscles burn calories both when they work and at rest. Unlike fats muscles burn calories all-day. Knowing this, you can start weight loss by increasing muscle mass. The more muscles, the less fat will remain. Be sure that you begin slowly and think about starting with resistance exercises.

Engaging in Aerobics

Aerobics are not only good for the heart by increasing cardio-vascular conditioning routine but aerobics also help in increasing lean muscle mass while simultaneously decreasing excess body fat. Aside from these benefits, aerobics make the metabolic process more efficient long after you quit. Imagine burning fat efficiently while driving along the freeway or even while watching television.

Taking Diet Pills

Over-the-counter diet pills can affect the amount of weight loss as well as how long one keeps that amount of weight off. However, you must be wary of the side-effects of diet pills. Be sure to faithfully follow the instructions provided in the packaging. It is also prudent to consult the physician rather than experimenting with these drugs to find out which ones really work.

Losing weight does not have to mean sacrifice and torment. It can actually open up to a more full and healthy life where you do not need to feel bad about how you look or not being able to do what you want. Losing weight can be the life changing answer you have been looking for. Begin today and you can gain confidence while you lose pounds.

Today, our daily obligations of work and home keep us tied to our chairs, and if we want exercise, we have to seek it out.

A lot of us live our lives like caged animals. We were designed to be active, too often we put ourselves in a cage. We have bodies equiped to do a great deal of physical labor, but instead we live a lifestyle of migrating from the bed to the breakfast table; to the car seat; to the office chair; to the restaurant booth; to the living room couch and back to the bed.

It was not always this way. Not long ago in the United States, a man who worked on a farm did the equivalent of 15 miles of jogging every day; and his wife did the equivalent of 7 miles of jogging.

Today, our daily obligations of work and home keep us tied to our chairs, and if we want exercise, we have to seek it out.

In fact, health experts insist that obesity problems are caused at least as much by lack of physical activity as by eating too much. Therefore, it is important that people need to move around and keep active.

However, that does not mean that a lap or two around the old high school track will offset a daily dose of donuts. Exercise alone is not the complete answer, experts say. They contend that if you just exercise and do not change your diet, you may be able to prevent additional weight gain and you can reshape your body somewhat.

They say that you must maintain exercise as part of an overall weight loss and fitness program. The more regularly you exercise, the easier it is to maintain your weight. Here is what to do every day to make sure that you get the exercise you need.

1. Get quality Sleep.

Make sure that you get adequate sleep. Good sleep habits are conducive to exercise, experts point out. If you feel worn out during the day, you are less likely to get much physical activity during the day.

In addition, there is evidence that people who are tired tend to eat more, using food as a substance for the rest they need.

2. Walk the walk.

It is probably the easiest exercise program of all. In fact, in some cases it may be all you ever have to do, according to the professional advice of some health experts.

Gradually build up to at least 30 minutes of brisk walking five times a week. Brisk walks themselves have health and psychological benefits that are well worth the while.

3. Walk the treadmill.

When the weather is bad, you might not feel like going outdoors. But if you have a treadmill in the television room, you can catch up on your favorite shows while you are doing your daily good turn for your weight-maintenance plan.

Most of us watch television anyway, and indoor exercise equipment enables anyone to turn a sedentary activity into a healthy walk.

4. Seize the time.

With all other excuses aside, lack of time is certainly a limiting factor in most lifestyles. That is why health experts suggest a basic guideline for incorporating exercise into your schedule.

Get as much exercise as you can that feels good without letting it interfere with your work or family life. If you need to, remind yourself that you are preventing many health problems when you prevent weight gain; and keeping your health is a gift to your family as well as yourself.
